Few words about Jewish shofar

shofar has meaningful use in the judaism,it’s a mitzvah to play the shofar in Rosh Hashana like it say in the bible (numbers chapter 29): “And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have a holy convocation: ye shall do no manner of servile work; it is a day of blowing the horn unto you.”

It is also a mitzava to blow the shofar at the conclusion of Yom Kippur after closing prayer.

We believe that playing the shofar at rosh hashana is opening the gate of the sky, so our Lord will be able to listen to our prayers,10 days later is “yom kipor” the jewish holiday where we are fasting in order to clear our sins.

On yom kipor we are also blowing the shofar and it symbolize the closing of the gate of the sky.

The jewish person that play the shofar is usually the rabi .

shofar is made of kudu (antelope) horn,usually the horns come from Africa and being clean and polished here in israel.

blowing the shofar need some practice but some can play it very well and some believe the sound of the shofar help god hear their prayers.
